Premier's employees are dedicated to social responsibility not only in the workplace, but in the communities in which we live. We support a variety of charitable causes through volunteer work and donations, and we pride ourselves of these activities:
Premier's Employee Values Conference includes a Volunteer Day that sends hundreds of Premier employees into the community to work with social services organizations. Over the years, employees have spent thousands of hours landscaping local parks, delivering clothes and food, building homes and providing gifts to underserved children.
In keeping with our purpose of improving the health of communities, the Monroe E. Trout Premier Cares Award recognizes non-profit initiatives across the country working to improve the health of populations in need. Over the past 15 years, Premier has provided $2.75 million in funding to 90 deserving community health organizations.
- Environmentally safe product program
Premier's Environmentally Preferred Purchasing Program offers products that are safe to the environment and provides information on how hospitals can reduce their environmental impact. In recognition of these efforts, we have received the Champions for Change award from Hospitals for a Healthy Environment five years in a row.
- Ethical and transparent supply chain
Premier provides transparency for all stakeholders into how we operate our group purchasing services. In the early 2000s, we partnered with other group purchasing organizations to develop a voluntary code of conduct for our industry. In addition, we engaged a business ethicist to identify best practices for group purchasing, and we made a commitment to operate by these standards. We keep our operations transparent by communicating with our constituents through the Web, our publications and other communications. And we led the effort to create an industry-wide ethics initiative through which all participating organizations provide similar levels of transparency.
